Introduction

The family Dermestidae (Coleoptera: Bostrichoidea) currently consists of 62 genera, containing ca. 1600 species worldwide [1].

Based on the determination of some Dermestidae (Coleoptera) specimens deposited in Senckenberg Deutsches Entomologisches Institut, Müncheberg, Germany, I established synonymy concerning two undescribed Attagenus species. The present article follows a published work by Háva [2].

Material examined

Tasch-kent [printed label]“/„Attagenus nitidus Ball“ [handwrittten label]/„♀“/„Coll. Kraatz“, 1 female, (SDEI).

Other material examined: Taschkent“ [yellow printed label], 1 female, (JHAC).

Remarks: The species Attagenus nitidus Ballion species has not been described. All its morphological characters belong to the species Attagenus unicolor simulans Solsky, 1876.

Distribution: A species known from Afghanistan, China, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, Mongolia, Russia, Tadzhikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Attagenus tomentosus Erichson (undescribed species)

Material examined: 25940, Attagenus tomentosus Helf, Mesopotamia“/„S9“/Coll. Kraatz“, [yellow, black-bordered label, handwritten] 1 female („syntype“), (SDEI).

Remarks: The species Attagenus tomentosus Erichson has not been described. According to original labels [3] this is an Erichson´s species. Erichson´s „syntypes“are probably deposited in more institutions or museums. I a „syntype“ of this undescribed species labelled as in material examined. Based on all morphological characters of the specimen studied, the undescribed species belongs to Attagenus uniformis Fairmaire, 1860.

Distribution: A species known from Sicily, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia, Western Sahara, Iraq, Israel (Palestine) and Syria.
